Communities

Create your own community or join existing networks of professionals for an active exchange on current topics and trends in the field of security.

Communities can be open, closed, public or hidden, depending on your needs. Whether you want to have a truly private discussion in a small circle, engage as many people from one field as possible, or just catch up on the latest news or job adverts in security, all is possible. Invite-only communities are the norm, in which users can apply for membership but must be endorsed by an existing member or admin, to ensure a high quality of participant and contributions.

There is no advertising or commercialization in communities, all content is user generated and self-administered. Full user member management is possible for your own community, including the nomination of community scouts, who act as moderators for larger-scale groups.

You can join communities and subscribe to notifications on any updates or ongoing discussions. All is conveniently summarized on a central home screen that highlights only the key topics you are interested in but not more.

Communities are sorted by new or frequently discussed threads, all created by other community members, and can facilitate discussions and sharing of comments by other users. Posts and content can be securely erased at any time. You can set your own rules and regulations for your community and manage all members in line with these principles.

Community content and discussions are completely private and no non-members have access to the shared content unless the community has been classified as open by their administrators.

Don’t want to be part of a community anymore? Just leave all your ties with that community behind, including all contacts of other members. Due to full control over personal data and a privacy-oriented approach instead of a contact-driven social-network, communities are a great way to link yourself to a professional or private group for exactly as long as you want. When your participation ends, so does the sharing of your information.

Chat

Hyperlane includes a chat function that allows you to communicate with your contacts in a secure and private way, fully end-to-end encrypted (including all attachments!). There is no possibility for monitoring or analysis of your information.

You can send photos, videos, or any file attachment and these are fully encrypted, not only during transfer but also on the Hyperlane servers. You retain full ownership of everything you send, share or write and we can neither see nor claim any of your content. No bloatware or unnecessary features means you have just the essentials to do what you want: Communicate securely and privately.

Chat messages are encrypted with your own private key and you can securely transfer all your chat logs to a new phone or erase them permanently at any point in time, both for yourself and your chat partner.

Chats allow for a direct one-to-one communication. Contacts for chats can either be people you already have in your address book, your public Hyperlane contacts, or connections with whom you share a community. Unless you specially allow this, no one else can send you messages. Your address book and contact information is not stored on the Hyperlane servers and are only used during the session. Neither we, Google, nor Apple or any other third party can access your message content or contacts. This includes Chat notifications, which are only decrypted when accessing the app and not shared with your Google or Apple for the message preview.
